Hakunofuji after the bout against Houshouryuu: "I thought I'd won," adding,
"I could see the Yokozuna's hand, and I wondered if the dead body rule
would kick in or something. I saw that the gunbai pointed to the Yokozuna
and thought there won't  be a monoii..  I thought I'd won, but then the
gyoji pointed to the other side.. I did consider the possibility of a
rematch. I tried to change my feeling in the rematch but it didn't work. I
got all worked up hearing the crowd cheering for me and couldn't go about
it calmly. I don't remember what kind of sumo I did in the second bout." He
then asked the reporters what the shinpan were saying . "Well, without the
shinpan and a gyoji we couldn't do any sumo. That's the strength of a
Yokozuna. I thought to go with a throw and warmed up with my tsukebito, but
I was just one step short. I'll switch gears and do my best tomorrow!" he
vowed.
