Takanoshou is kyujo starting on Day 13. A medical certificate citing
"damage to the ligaments of the left ankle" was submitted to the Kyokai. He
sustained the injury during his Day 12 bout against Kotoeihou with the
diagnosis indicating that "approximately one month of treatment" would be
required from the date of injury. After the match, Takanoshou had remarked,
His Oyakata Minatogawa explained that the injury involved the Achilles
tendon and noted that Takanoshou had said he heard a "popping sound."  "He
came to me last night saying he wanted to go kyujo, something he rarely
does on his own initiative. We will focus on getting him fully healed for
the next basho." He will not return for the remainder of the current
bashot, and it is expected that he will also sit out the upcoming autumn
jungyo. This marks Takanoshou's first kyujo since the 2023 Kyushu basho; he
had a record of 4 wins and 8 losses up to Day 12. His scheduled opponent
for Day 13,  Hakunofuji, will get the freebie.
