The second return flight to Japan, carrying Yokozuna Oonosato and Ozeki
Kotozakura and Aonishiki arrived at Tokyo's Haneda Airport on the 18th.
Makuuchi rikishi Kotoeihou vowed to grow even more, encouraged by the great
response to his signature leg-raising shiko. An image of him raising his
leg high in front of the Eiffel Tower was posted on his support group's
official Instagram account. It received a great response, and he was
delighted, saying, "I think it's something you can only do once in your
life, so it was a very valuable experience." He also showcased his
high-legged shiko during his matches in the Paris Koen. He was pleased,
saying, "I received a great deal of applause, and I was very happy." He
competed for the yusho until the end of the May Basho, and his popularity
is on the rise thanks to his high-legged shiko. Looking ahead to the Nagoya
Basho, he said, "I will train hard, switch gears, and do my best."
Ozeki Kotozakura, who emerged from the arrival lobby, reflected, "It was
great to be able to go to various places while doing what I needed to do."
Regarding the food there, he said, "It was familiar food from Japan, so I
didn't feel too uncomfortable with the food. But I want to eat rice. I also
want to eat some tender meat." During the Koen, he won the first day and
defeated Yokozuna Houshouryuu in the overall yusho match on the second
day. "The result was good. (Going forward) I will keep moving my body
properly and do what I can," he said, looking ahead to the Nagoya Basho
where he will face be kadoban.
