Regarding Houshouryuu, who withdrew on the 14th day of the Nagoya
tournament, the Chairman said, "It was truly regrettable. There was an
opinion that Houshouryuu should recall the words 'Kihaku Issen' (a flash of
spirit) that he uttered when he was promoted to Yokozuna, get his body in
perfect condition to do Yokozuna sumo, and work hard in his training."
Regarding Oonosato, returning after missing two consecutive tournaments due
to a left shoulder injury, he was praised for "doing a good job to be able
to compete for 15 days." After a 9-6 record, including a losing start, he
said, "I felt some anxiety. There were times when Oonosato showed the
strong sumo of the past, but at the beginning, he showed sumo that lacked
confidence and conviction in himself due to anxiety. I hope that the strong
Oonosato will gradually emerge in the next tournament."

The Yokozuna Deliberation Council can issue resolutions such as
encouragement to Yokozuna, but the Chairman explained, "We will not issue a
resolution this time. There was no discussion either. This is just a
preliminary stage."  Regarding Aonishiki, who clinched his third yusho with
a record of 12 wins and 3 losses and secured his return to Ozeki, he
praised him, saying, "It was truly admirable that he overcame his injury
and fought in that manner." He also said, "I felt his passionate and
unwavering determination to pursue the path of sumo. While comparing the
two Yokozuna to that image to some extent, I would like to expect that
spirit from both of them.."
