Oםnosato had 12 consecutive bouts against Kotozakura, who came for degeiko
today, going 8-4 . He arrived in Osaka early and began training on the 22nd
and spoke positively about Haru, where he aims to win his first yusho in
three tournaments, saying, "It was good keiko. I want to be ready in time
for the first day." Last tournament, he struggled with left shoulder pain,
finishing with just 10 wins, his fewest in his four tournaments as a
Yokozuna. On this day, he showed off a powerful left-handed oshi,
suggesting he is recovering well. His 192 cm, 184 kg physique is in good
shape, and he looked ahead, saying, "I'm in good shape. I'll work on the
areas where I was lacking." Kotozakura made a rare visit to Oonosato's heya
for keiko. Having failed to achieve double-digit wins for seven consecutive
tournaments and struggling to break out of his slump, he said, "It's
important to change the way I do things. I don't get too caught up in it,
and the best thing is to just do what I'm doing." The sound of the two men
clashing violently echoed throughout the keiko-ba, and Sadogatake Oyakata,
who was accompanying Kotozakura, said: "He has to train in order to compete
with those above him."
