Life goes on as usual at Isegahama beya, regardless of the happenings.
Today, a regular keiko session was held, open to the public. Enhou,
Makushita 4E, aiming to return to sekitoriness after recovering from a
serious spinal cord injury, was doing basic exercises and other training.
"I'll just do what I can in the next week. I want to cherish each day," he
said. He defeated Tochimaru in his sixth bout of the Hatsu Basho, retaining
his undefeated record, but injured his left foot. "It's a fracture, both on
the outside and inside of my ankle," he revealed. He is still in pain and
has not resumed sumo training. "I've been recuperating and resting for a
long time, so I've finally been able to get down on the dohyo and move
around in the past week or so. I feel like I'm getting a little better with
each passing day. It's a bit frustrating, but I'm working hard, day by
day." He is undergoing careful training while continuing to receive
outpatient treatment. Last basho, he lost to Nobehara in the bout that
determined the Makushita yusho winner, and missed out on returning to Juryo
"It's frustrating, sad, and painful. There's no end to it. If I stop there,
give up and quit, it's over. I have to work a little harder." He is aiming
to go undefeated in Haru, and said, "That's all I have to do. My heart is
still burning. I think I can still go on doing this for a long time,"
showing his fighting spirit.
