The Yokozuna Deliberation Council held their special keiko session today)
at the Sumo Training Center. Yokozuna Oonosato had 3 wins and 5 losses
against Yokozuna Houshouryuu and 3 losses against Ozeki Kotozakura. The Q&A
with Oonosato after keiko is as follows:
: - Looking back on today's keiko..
"There is still time for me to do it properly, so I would like to put in
some more effort" -
You had 11 matches and won 3. How do you feel about the results?
"Totally bad... I will do my best to be ready in time for the shonichi" -
-So you're not feeling too great..
"It was all a bit disjointed, so I will work hard again"
- Now that the jungyo has finished and the basho is about to begin, what
did you take away from this jungyo and the loud supporting cheers you
received?
-"I will do my best and prepare properly so that I can turn that experience
into strength again."
- I imagine that this basho you will still be getting over the last basho,
so how are you feeling about that?
"I want to do my best so that I don't make the same mistakes as I did last
basho."
- By the same mistakes, what exactly do you mean?
- "I want to do my best as a Yokozuna so that I don't make the same
mistakes as last tournament, so that I can stay in the yusho race until the
end and liven up the atmosphere."
- For example, did you have any strategy that you decided on for yourself
in keiko today?
"It wasn't good, so today was today and it is over for me, and I'll work
hard and gambarize again tomorrow."
- Could you please tell us again about your resolve and thoughts for this
tournament?
" Well, I shall do what I need to do properly and give it my all for the 15
days."
