Kotozakura, who withdrew from Aki basho on day 14, expressed his desire to
compete in Kyushu On the 4th, he participated in the danpatsushiki of
ex-Ozeki Takakeishou (Minatogawa Oyakata), held at the Kokugikan. He
injured his right knee in a match against Yokozuna Houshouryuu on the 13th
day of the basho which he won for his ninth win. The next day, he submitted
a medical certificate stating that he had torn the medial collateral
ligament in his right knee and was expected to recover in three weeks,
forcing him to miss two days, including the final day of the tournament.
Kotozakura, who had the injured area taped , said, "I wanted to do what I
could," and did not compete in any matches yesterday. However, he did use
the scissors for a snip at the ceremony for his senior from Saitama Sakae
High School. He was seen dragging his right leg when going up and down
steps. While he declined to comment, it's clear that he was in pain.
Regarding the Kyushu tournament, he said, "Of course. I'm preparing as if I
intend to participate." Regarding whether he will be able to take part in
the London Koen scheduled for the 15th to 19th of this month, he was
cautious, saying, "I don't know."

Regarding the danpatsushiki itself, he said sadly, "He is someone who has
fought with me on the same dohyo. We have also trained together on the same
dohyo." There are many sekitori who graduated from Saitama Sakae High
School, and he said, "We want to carry on the tradition together and pass
it on to the next generation," and vowed to follow in Minatogawa Oyakata's
steps, with his fighting spirit, his stoic attitude towards sumo, etc..
