Study: Fears Over Kids' Safety Online Misplaced

It's common wisdom that the Internet is a dangerous place for kids,
filled with predators lurking to lure children and harm them. That
wisdom has lead to everything from tightened access controls for social
networking sites to calls for massive data retention by ISPs. But a new
study from the National School Boards Association suggests strongly that
many of those fears are misplaced and that the overwhelming majority of
kids have never had an unknown adult ask them for personal information.
