In computer warfare, security admins must go into battle riding on a
strong vehicle and armed with effective tools, according to security
expert Anton Chuvakin. Fortunately, the security warrior who's
protecting Linux has both.

Chuvakin's security credentials are strong, too. He is co-author with
Cyrus Peikari of "Security Warrior," a new book from O'Reilly. He's also
senior security analyst for netForensics, an Edison, N.J.-based security
information management company.

Chuvakin describes Linux's security strengths and the tools that can
make it stronger in part one of this two-part interview. In part two, he
offers tips on how administrators can hone their security skills.
