1996 Laurel Independence Day Celebration

Laurel's 18th annual Independence Day celebration kicks off at 9:30am with a fishing contest for kids 12 years and under at Laurel Lakes. The parade begins at Montgomery and Fourth streets at 11am and field events and games begin at 1:45pm at Granville Gude Park. The 2nd Conspiracy band performs at 6pm and fireworks begine at 9:15pm. No dogs, bicycles, or alcoholic beverages allowed on the field. The following is a schedule for the day:

 9:30 - 10:00    fishing contest registration
10:00 - 11:00    fishing contest (12 and under) and registration for horseshoes (horseshow pit area)
11:00 -  5:00    horseshoe contest
11:00 - 12:30    parade on Fourth Street
 1:00 -  4:00    ReMax hot air balloon
 1:45 -  2:00    baby crawl contest
 2:00 -  2:15    sack race
 2:15 -  2:30    water-balloon toss
 2:30 -  2:45    buble gum contest
 2:45 -  3:00    hula hoop contest
 3:00 -  3:15    wheelbarrow race
 3:15 -  4:00    watermelon-eating contest (covered pavilion)
 4:00 -  5:00    registration for paddle-boat contest at boat house (if dock area is available)
 5:00 -  5:15    welcome by Mayor Frank Casula
 5:15 -  5:45    2nd Conspiracy Band (main stage)
 5:15 -  7:00    paddleboat races (if available)
 5:45 -  6:00    presentation of parade awards (main stage)
 6:00 -  7:45    2nd Conspiracy Band (main stage)
 8:00 -  8:45    band floor show (main stage)
