Yes,Scott, this is absolutely true.
Wajima was finally tossed when the Yakuza representative presented their
demand to the Kyokai for the cash value of Wajima's share. They were
informed that only Sumo Kyokai personnel could own or trade this.

What is boggling is that after many failed attempts at doing anything
else, he started appearing around Sumo practices with various Oyakata a
few years ago, looking thin and balding, a pathetic shadow of  his former
renegade self. ( A couple  of vaguely nasty personal stories about him
from the 70's  are in my book, but nothing that would embarrass the
Kyokai).

Nothing to my knowledge ever seemed to come of his recent ghost~like re
appearance around sumo.... maybe Doreen has something on that.
