Dewahikari did indeed retire and have his private haircut immediately 
after the aki basho, but his master did not hand in his retirement 
papers. So he remains on the banzuke for one more basho, after which he 
will drop off naturally.  I didn't like to pry but I imagine the 
master's intention was to cushion the blow.
