Sorry everyone, I’ve gotten a little behind the last couple of days, Here
are Jonosuke’s Rikishi Talk translations for Day 4.

Enjoy!

Kasugao (Juryo East 3, 2-2) losing to Tosayutaka by yorikiri
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----
(After cheering for and watching Korea win over Japan in the WBC series,
psyched himself up so much to walk over to the dohyo but easily losing to
Tosasyutaka)
"I got too excited watching baseball when I need to focus on my sumo."

Yamamotoyama (4-0) over Toyozakura by oshidashi
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Taking full advantage of his mammoth physique to gain his fourth straight
win)
"Like I keep saying I will be moving forward every day. But today I did
exactly that."
(Any reason for his good start in his second Makuuchi basho)
"Oh...I don't know. I think I have been just lucky."
(The only rikishi remaining without loss is two Mongolian yokozuna and
himself and asked if he would be representing Japan now.)
"Right. I will do my best."
(On eating out)
"Yeah Tako yaki (BBQ octopus ball) sounds real good. The Osaka version can
really melt in your mouth like turning liquid like. I guess I go for some
tonight. See you guys later then."

Shotenro (1-3) over Kimurayama by oshidashi
---------------------------------------------------------------
(Notching his first win in his Makuuchi debut basho)
"The last three days I had no appetite but tonight I will be going out to
have a good dinner at a BBQ restaurant and eat all I can."

Kaio (3-1) over Baruto by kotenage
------------------------------------------------
(His body in total disarray and the only savior left for him is his feared
right kotenage which already sent Goeido and Toyonoshima to the infirmary in
recent memory.)
"Actually I wasn't even applying that much pressure so I was rather
surprised that it did the job that well."
"All I am hoping for is to keep my lower body in good enough shape to last
till the Senshuraku. Pains are getting worse and worse every day."

Baruto (2-2) losing to Kaio
--------------------------------------
(Almost suffering a fatal lock around his left arm.)
"I was so surprised. Definitely I was thinking I had to avoid the kotenage
situation at all costs but I started thinking perhaps I could get by
grabbing the left mawashi. A bad mistake."

Kotomitsuki (2-2) over Kakuryu by uchimuso
------------------------------------------------------------
(Getting his record to even but a Kadoban still looms large)
"I feel like I am still moving stiff. I can't really afford to even take a
breather here and there anymore."

Harumafuji (3-1) over Hokutoriki by tsukiotoshi
------------------------------------------------------------------
(Another day and another twirl around but getting the win nonetheless.)
"I need to go with more solid sumo. I am like jumping in and around."

Goeido (2-2) over Chiyotaikai by yorikiri
---------------------------------------------------------
(Displaying a smart sumo by using Inashi to counter Chiyotaikai's Tsuppari
and grabbing the mawashi)
"I was feeling much better after winning yesterday's bout."
(Cheered by over sixty children from a kindergarten his mother works)
"I am really happy that I was able to win after getting so much cheers
today."
(Facing Asashoryu on Day 5.)
"The yokozuna came to train with us often prior to the basho. I try to get
him rushed....hopefully I can get into Migi-yotsu or put my head on to him."

Chiyotaikai (1-3) losint to Goeido
---------------------------------------------
"I think I fell into some kind of maze. Perhaps my Tsuppari has no weight. I
am not doing strong tachiai so the power does not carry over to the
opponent. It's really tough."

Tochiozan (2-2) losing to Asashoryu by yoritaoshi
---------------------------------------------------------------------
(Challenging Asashoryu for the first time)
"Even when I got slapped and pushed around, I was all prepared to stay
patient and try to go for the mawashi but I couldn't get it. Like my feet
got all tangled up at the end..."
"I don't know but maybe mentally he got me good. I think I was overwhelmed
mentally."
(Facing Hakuho on Day 5)
"Once I stop and let him get my mawashi, it's the game over. I know I won't
be able to do anything then. I need to keep moving forward and putting
pressure on him."

Asashoryu (4-0) over Tochiozan
--------------------------------------------
(Facing Tochiozan who has defeated ozeki already but Asashoryu has done his
homework well.)
"I knew pretty well he could come out hitting pretty hard so I went with a
thinking man's sumo. He has been displaying a pretty good sumo the last two
days"
(Now he won 30 straight against an opponent he has never faced before. The
only close record is KItanoumi's 24 consecutive.)
"I was aware that I've never faced him before but I did not know about the
record.."
(An "I told you so" baseball comment or two from the authority.)
"I've been telling everyone that Darvish should have never started . The
loss today is huge. I am so upset. I am telling you, we can't rely on
Darvish or Iwakuma (another pitcher scheduled to pitch the next game).
Unless you know the world, you won't be any good.""

Musashigawa oyakata, chairman of the Kyokai
-------------------------------------------------------------
(On Asashoryu)
"An amazing display of sumo. He just swallowed up his opponent. And so
easily too. His opponent looked so scared, he looked like as if he was
shrinking away. But remember Asashoryu is just not stepping on the dohyo
without a sensible strategy. He only comes after spending good chunk of his
time thinking about his and his opponent's best moves. He is showing quick
and powerful sumo but it is an intelligent sumo as well. "

Hakuho (4-0) over Kotoshogiku by yoritaoshi
------------------------------------------------------------
"I feel I am moving forward pretty hard now. For a moment I thought I'd go
with a throw but then for the last three days I had gone forward so I just
went with the flow."
(The only thing of interest in the whole nation of Japan today. On Team
Korea beating Japan in WBC.)
"I guess we could really say Korea was really strong today, weren't they?"
