Thanks, as always, Jeanne. In a couple of places: Oooh! say it ain't so!

Meanwhile back at the Rancho Grande --no, I'm still in Ryogoku, aren't
I? we are swinging into action. Tomorrow, my spies inform me, David
Shapiro will be on with Ross Mihara, ever young and gorgeous
(especially if you're my age). I don't have all the bookings in place
but on Sunday Nakabi I will be appearing, voice-wise, with Hiro
Morita, the only Japanese-born play-by-playman, always a pleasure to
work with. There is a special guest on the Japanese side who I am
assured is a very famous and well-informed man and I will be
desperately looking him up.

I still remember the time I had to deal with a Japanese version of Miss
Piggie -- (whose name my Japanese teacher of the time couldn't read
because she wasn't into that kind of Japanese culture) and I found her
to be a very talented enka singer who had really gone through the mill,
much like a rikishi but without the physical violence. Fortunately I
had some background with enka singers and managed the linkage. My most
precious memory of that broadcast is of the simultaneous interpreter
just solemnly nodding her head as I told of the apprenticeship.

Doreen

So, my mind is open.
