What about the quality of his sumo this basho. How many henkas can 1
rikishi perform in 1 tournament and still hope to be considered as an ozeki
candidate?

True ozekis occasionally commit henka as do yokozunas but pretty rarely,
certainly not 3 or 4 times a tournament or more. Let's see Ama got his win
over Kaio on day 4, Asashoryu on day 9, Toyonoshima on day 11 via the henka
route. In my mind that kind of weakens the value of a victory over an ozeki
or Yokozuna when it is obtained by such shenanigans.

That being said I believe Ama has the potential to be a damn good Ozeki. He
is performing now like he did as a Komosubi when he wanted to get promoted
to Sekiwake, he will do what it takes. I'm just afraid the Banzuke
Re-organizagtion Committee will consider quality and that anything short of
13-2, Jun-yusho will mean at least one more tournament to try and erase that
9-6.

I believe that once he makes ozeki that he will go back to the quality sumo
he is capable of and the henka will be put back in the bag of tricks to used
only in extraordinary circumstances.
