My above comment should in no way be construed as voicing an opinion about
whether a mono-ii should or should not have been called. Given my ignorance
(at the time I wrote the comment) regarding the rules concerning mono-ii it
would have been presumptuous of me to say that the shimpan should or should
not have called for a mono-ii. However, now that I have had the chance to
read Doreen's 2 postings on this topic I feel that I am now better informed
and therefore would agree with Torideyama's opinion that "...but don't you
think that as close at the call was, a monoii was in order to insure that
they got it right." On the other hand, it would appear to me that
Mihogaseki oyakata (rightly or wrongly) simply believed he had got it
"right", and therefore it would be difficult to convince me that his
decision was somehow based on what the "Kyokai wants".
