Personally, I did not take Joe's as being meant as anything but wise
and constructive suggestions, perhaps mistakenly sent to the list
instead of as a private post, and I thank him for his outstanding and
tireless efforts. I am glad that the mailing list appears
rejuvenated, there have been many outstanding and heart-tugging posts.
I hope that Keri reconsiders as well as others.

This could be a very exciting basho with Hakuho coming off a Yusho and
Asashoryu capturing the Mongolia jungyo which may have been considered
even more delicious a title (sorry for being provocative again, it's
hard to teach an old dog new tricks...), and having actually spent
more time training.

Random thoughts on the upcoming basho before it starts... Kokkai is
unexplainably at the bottom of the Makuuchi Banzuke, how will he and
other Eastern European rikishi respond following all of the political
turmoil and drug controversies? Will Baruto finally conquer the top
rikishi, or for that matter will he stay healthy at this position?
How about Kasugao, for that matter, who sometimes displays brilliant
sumo and at other times is sloppy. Which of the current mainstays,
Toyonoshima, Kotoshogiku, Kisenosato, Aminishiki, and Asasekiryu will
decide impress this tournament? Can Ama finally challenge for a
Yusho? Is Goeido the real deal, and can Gaga's friend, Tochinoshin
use his brief experience in Makuuchi to propel him up to the top of
the banzuke? Could the dohyo ever withstand a Yamamotoyama vs.
Iwakiyama or Miyabiyama match, and might such a match be awaiting us
in the future? Wakanosato, Kaio, and Chiyotaikai, is there a yusho
contending performance left within? Dejima, can he have a double
digit record by remaining on the dohyo? Kaiho, is there something
still left in the well? What heart shown by Ichihara last basho!
Will Takekaze take the Makuuchi elvevator ride up and Kyokutenho the
elevator ride down? Will Bushuyama take out missing a perhaps
deserved promotion to Makuuchi on the Juryo field? Will Tochinonada
have any matches over 3 minutes long?

And, will Gaga learn how to utilize his huge frame and control his
momentum to finally and figuratively push towards Juryo? Daughter of
Sukubidubidu is rooting for him, as Gaga is her selection as final
Torchbearer of 2008!
