Since yours and Jeanne's contents are similar, let me respond here.
I do want to move forward from this, into a discussion of what we
all can do to reestablish the list. I believe that we can do this
without moderation if posters show some restraint.
Out of my highest respect for certain individuals who I refer to as
sumo "insiders", our private, I want our off list conversations
will to remain private. I hope you can respect this, and take me
at my word.
With regard to Moti's mailing list, he was kind enough to include me
despite our diametrically opposed points of view, and he did so
without my asking! How nice it would be if he returned, and set
the stage for others to do the same. Personally, I am lucky and
greatful to get my share of sumo information, I feel badly that
much has been lost here on the mailing list. I do check out the
sumo forum as a guest, but only when I have time enough to scan.
Daughter of Sukubidubidu always asks about her favorite rikishi,
Gagamaru, so I need to update her with Moti's reports.
As for the Asashoryu fan club comment below, I feel badly for Joe
that he left because people (me in particular) defended Asashoryu
during one of the most controversial times in recent sumo, a
controversy that touched many issues. He may have brought this
upon himself, as I remember one of his Asashoryu comments in
particular which to me was very un-Joe-like in that he was the
person who began a personal attack. This diverted the debate into
more personal attacks. Moderation at that time could have kept the
debate on topic.
Let's move on to the positive aspects please.
