Asashoryu: (Finishing out of the running despite being a pre-event 
favorite) The first yusho is a happy thing. I'm a bit jealous.

Hakuho: (Not pleased with his "place" finish) I guess it just means 
[Kotooshu ran a good race].

Kotooshu: (Blabbering ecstatically in the winner's circle) I still can't 
believe it. I am not able to put it in words. [My head is a blank.] I 
can't think of anything right now. [Immediately after I won] I recalled 
all the sufferings I went through. I've blown several opportunities [for 
yusho] so I am very happy.

Kisenosato: (Downing Aminishiki who had whipped Kotooshu the day before) 
I felt I needed to stop his initial surge. Now that I got this far, I 
want to win one more [to reach my goal of double-digits].

Ama: (Trouble coming out of the gate) A loss is a loss. I concede 
defeat. I think the bout was decided when I got harite-slapped at tachi-ai.

Chiyotaikai: (Getting mentally prepared for Sanoyama Stud Farm) Has it 
been almost ten years since I won my first yusho? I really feel old.

Toyohibiki: (Finally achieving kachi-koshi after a fast start out of the 
gate) Whew. Am I pooped! I'm really glad since I've had a lot of 7-8 
basho recently.

Kotomitsuki: (Unable to reach KK after heya-mate triumphed in the yusho 
derby) If I had won, it would have been like winning [a perfecta].
