Good question. I've been wondering about how the conflict may be affecting 
the Georgian rikishi's focus but I hadn't considered the Russians.

I think most if not all the Russians are from the Ossetian region which is 
relatively close to Georgia. They may have feelings about the separatist 
aspect since there are separatist issues in Ossetia too and also they may be 
concerned about the proximity of the conflict to their home towns.

Probably, as sportsmen, they will try to remain apolitical and get along 
well with their fellow foreign rikishi but certainly they must be worried 
about their families back home.

Reading the Wakanoho interview a question popped into my head.  This has 
nothing what so ever to do with sumo so I didn't even know what to put in 
the subject line above.

Does anyone know what the Russian and Georgian rikishi think of their 
respective countries possibly going to war in the near future?  Does anyone 
besides me even care?
