Fortunately, or unfortunately, the SumoGames server is running:

Bench Sumo
ChainGang
Hoshitori
ISP
Juryo Game
Roto Sumo
Sekitori Oracle
Sekitori Quad
Sekitori Toto
Sumo Database <-- This is killing it at the moment.  We put it up as a
prototype that now that it's into the "wild" we are getting too much traffic
on it.  Many of the other games, especially Sekitori Toto are database
intensive and Sumo DB is a quantum leap more.

The server also runs a few other low traffic web sites and some applications
for our host.

The server only has 640 MB of RAM and we are running up to 1.5GB of virtual
memory which causes a lot of thrashing to disk.  The chipmunks are really
getting tired.  Our host has attempted to move us to better machines twice
but in both cases, the machine became a high value target and was hacked
mercilessly.  I'm reluctant to try to move things again given past history
and limp along as we are ...

When I'm home I can recycle things so we aren't too bad, but if we can lay
off the Sumo DB during times people are likely to be entering games, that
would be appreciated.  Chisaiyama's timings roughly correspond to when I
tend to be home and online.  Today I happened to have a meeting in Abu
Dhabi, so left about an hour before deadline when normally I'm home until
after the deadline and didn't get home until an hour  ago. I don't really
want to, but if we must, I will turn off the Sumo DB during the basho.

Many of our beloved sumo games run on the SumoGames server.
During basho time it gets overloaded easily, I believe this error
is a result of that overloading.  I get it quite often on all the
games that run off that server, especially ISP, Sekitori-Toto and Roto-Sumo.
My advice is to keep trying.  Sometimes I will try several times in
a row, sometimes I put some time between tries.

I am in California and I find either between 6-8AM or 4-8PM works best
for me.  During the middle of the day is nearly impossible.
