Hi all,

Speaking of classic sumo, way back in 1997, I started taping the hon-basho on VHS tapes. Recently I have been transferring them to DVD and I have just about completed the 1997 Kyushu basho, only day 15 left to do. It's been kind of fun to go back and relive some of the moments from this basho. Some hi-lites that I enjoyed were:

- Konishiki retiring after his day 13 loss to a melancholy Kotonowaka 
- A memorable, if not hilarious bout between Mainoumi and Kyokushuzan
- Chiyotaikai in his 2nd basho, fighting the joi-jin, and beating 1 ozeki
- Day 14 Takanonami, Musashimaru and Takanohana all 14-1
- Some talk about Kyokutenho getting promoted to Makunouchi
- The futa factor - Ganyu fighting Takanohana on day 13
- Yamato (one of his few Makunouchi basho)
- Kaio still struggling from his thigh injury eeking out his KK
- Wakanosato's Juryo yusho
