I would have said Homasho before the tournament but I've been underwhelmed
by his accomplishments so far and now I might look to Ichihara ...
Kotoshogiku, Kisenosato, and Toyonoshima have each hit the wall and their
ceiling might be Kotomitsuki.
Goeido just bounced off the wall and it may be too soon to write him off.
Tochiozan and Toyohibiki have floundered a bit over the last couple of
tournaments and I'm a bit concerned about them and their long-term
potential.
All of these are still very young and have a chance to re-invent themselves
yet. Hopefully a couple of them can surprise us this year.
