Hakuhou had visitors from Sadogatake for degeiko on the 9th, Ozekis
Kotomitsuki and Kotooushuu. He had 20 bouts against them, but won
only 13. He was out to redeem his tarnished honor from the day
before's soken, but his keiko was not sharp and he did not look good.
"The speed of these Ozeki is nothing like that of the Maegashira
guys, so I had good keiko partners. Training with Ozeki before the
basho makes the basho a whole different one", said Hakuhou.
"There were parts where he stopped going all out in the middle. His
soken appearance was half hearted, so he did 20 bouts today - at
least that's good", added his mentor Kumagatani Oyakata.
But he was only 6-4 against Kotomitsuki who beat him last senshuraku,
and that in itself is worrying. He was seen easily being defeated too
many times. Time is running out. He can only actually do keiko till
Thursday (today), since after that it's torikumi making day etc.
After the keiko, Kumagatani asked Sadogatake Oyakata who came with
his boys to please come again tomorrow.
Thanks to Kintamayama for the information!
So, Hakuho apparently had his wake-up call at Soken - but will it be
too little, too late?
