Shokkiri is brilliant parody of sumo, performed by lower ranking rikishi
with the experience to know the moves well. After 35 years of being involved
with sumo, it STILL is one of my favorite sumo events.

Please note however, that Shokkiri is performed only during Œhana zumo¹, (
Exhibition sumo) and as a feature at a danpatsu, but never during a Œgrand
tournament¹. The ³grand tournamnet¹ refers to the 6 major tournaments a
year, where the rikishi fight for rank and pay scale.
Grand tournaments are in Jan, March, May,July, Sept, Nov. Never in February.
