Asa Home for Tsagaan Sar

BELYING media speculation, Asashoryu is spending Tsagaan Sar in Mongolia. He  
arrived here on February 4 and is expected to go back to Japan only on the 
8th.  
Earlier in the week Asashoryu said at Tochiazuma’s top-knot snipping  
ceremony, “I wonder if the press is going to let me go home.” There might have  been 
some ground for the media reports, though. His letter seeking approval to  
travel arrived at the Japan Sumo Association office only after his flight had  
left Narita Airport. 
When asked for a comment, the Association said this was  no problem. “
Approval to return home is automatic if his stable master stamps  his seal on the 
forms. When we receive the form is not really very important.”  In this case, 
Asashoryu’s stable master Takasago had given his seal of approval  as early as on 
February 2.
