They only need a few - the computer can duplicate and then change the face easily - crowd scenes in stadiums are done that way for commercials all the time.

Oh quiet list,

Where did they get all those sumo poseurs for the airplane formation?  (IBM 
Thinkpad ad being shown on NBC  during the Olympic broadcasts).

Most, if not all were wearing wigs.

That must have been a fun casting call.
