There is a buddhist story: two monks were walking through the hokaido
and came across a stream. At the stream was a woman who was not able
to navigate over the water alone. One of the monks had her climb on
his back and carried her across. Thanking him, she then went her way.
The second monk was very upset. "You should not have done that. She
is a woman. We are not allowed to touch her". The first monk did not
reply. Every so often the second monk would complain and chastise the
first monk for having carried the women. After many complaints and
admonishments and many miles the first monk said "I put her down on the
other side of the stream. You are still carrying her".
