Perhaps you confuse "history" with "heritage", the word you used in
your original post?  Perhaps a definition is in order?

Since yakyu, like sumo, has been a part of the culture of Japan since
before the oldest Japanese was born, their heritage is at least
identical.  If anything, baseball has a far greater heritage in Japan
than sumo (seen many high school sumo matches in your time?)
