He goes by "Masi Oka" and he is an American by nationality.  He was born 
in Japan but moved to the US at an early age and has spent his life as a 
Californian.  He is fluent enough in Japanese to do most of the 
translating for his own dialog in "Heroes".  Like many Californians, he 
also speaks Spanish.  His "Japanese" accent you hear when he is speaking 
English is required for the part he is playing - his English is actually 
as good as yours or mine normally - possibly better, considering his 180 
IQ and his Ivy League (Brown Univ.) education.
