Baruto (8-0, Juryo West 9 ) over Masatsukasa by
oshi-taoshi
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
(Mowing through his opponents and gaining kachi-koshi
without any loss)
"Well I am really psyched up every day."
(Even fallling down to Juryo, receiving loud cheers
from spectators)
"I am really happy about it. I thought I'd have been
forgotten already."
(On his injured left knee)
"Well it's not 100% yet but I know if I keep stepping
forward I won't make it worse. I am still only at the
half yet so I've got go on."

Kyokutenho (7-1) over Kitazakura by yorikiri, 5.2
seconds
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(One more step to kachi-koshi)
"I'd sure like to get it while the going is so good.
Only one more win to my goal."
(Really?)
"Well, to my first goal (smiles)."

Takamisakari (2-6) losing to Yoshikaze by yorikiri,
12.8 seconds
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
(On his second three bout losing streak this basho)
""I'd want to know myself seriously what's causing all
of this. I think I am not eating as much too."

Toyohibiki (5-3) losing to Dejima by hiki-otoshi, 1.7
seconds
----------------------------------------------------------------------
(Suffered his third loss but still...)
"I was thinking I'd won far more than I expected (in
the first half)."

Tochinonada (2-6) losing to Aminishiki by yorikiri,
14.0 seconds
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Tried all he could to get into his favorite form,
with his left grip on mawashi)
"I really couldn't get his right arm out. I knew
unless I got the mawashi, I couldn't get into my
sumo."

Aminishiki (8-0) over Tochinonada
-----------------------------------------
(Not letting Tochinonada get his left arm in to get
into his favorite form)
"I got my right arm squeeze tight to my body so he
couldn't get his left arm in to my mawashi. Then I was
just on guard against his tsuki-otoshi and kept moving
forward. "
"I felt badly about the yesterday's bout so I was
prepared to go all out today. I got out of tachiai as
quickly as I could. I was even prepared for him to do
a Matta. "
(Getting kachi-koshi)
"I never imagined I could get it this early. I feel
relieved though, having a weight off my shoulders. Now
all I want to do is finish without suffering an
injury."
(Winning his 8 straight from day 1 and told the best
consecutive win record for sekiwake debut basho is
Kotooshu's 12, followed by Taiho and Chiyonofuji with
8, all ozeki and yokozuna)
"Oh, no. Don't get your hope up too high. I
definitetly won't be able to meet everyone's
expectations. I am already too full."
(Possibly knowing he has to face a few rikishi he
would rather not face, Wakanosato - 9 losses in 9
encounters, Chiyotaikai -13 losses in 13 encounters
and Kotomitsuki - winning one out of 12 encounters)
"I know, I know. Perhaps I've come to a point when I
should stop the losing streaks against them."

Kotomitsuki (6-2) over Kakuryu by uwate-nage, 4.5
seconds
----------------------------------------------------------------------
(Recovering his speed sumo)
"I intentionally got myself to move forward today. I
hope to keep going with a sumo like today in the last
half."

Toyonoshima (5-3) over Kotooshu by shitate-nage, 11.4
seconds
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Prevailing over towering Kotooshu, even knowing
taller rikishi has more advantage in throwing)
"I was visualizing and thought for me to get the win
against him, there was nothing else but go with a
shitate-nage."

Chiyotaikai (7-1) over Wakanosato by oshi-dashi, 4.8
seconds
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Easily beating Wakanosato who thought he had a Matta,
remembering his own loss against Asashoryu when he
thought he had a Matta)
"You know I am already accustomed to that type of
sumo."
(Apparently his gum is swollen due to a tooth
infection)
"Considering all my physical conditions, up to now I
could give myself a 100."

Hakuho (7-1) over Homasho by oshi-taoshi, 1.6 seconds
------------------------------------------------------------------
"I got my left arn in easily. I couldn't get a good
grip on mawashi but I was moving well."
(Asked if he was facing his opponents with more
confidence)
"Unless you are confident in yourself, you can't
really go out there and do well."
(Asked about Aminishiki)
"Well I can't worry about other people."

Yusho Race Board

It's getting more likely that Asashoryu will be back
in time for the Winter Jyungyo tour announced
yesterday. The three city mini-tour kicks off at Bungo
Ono City in Oita Prefecture on December 2. "If he has
fully recovered from injuries and feeling good, he'd
be probably participating in the tour. I hope he can
rebuild his physique for the Hatsu basho and try to
train as much as he could in the tour," Kitanoumi
oyakata, chairman of the Kyokai said. "He should come
back in time for the Jyungyo tour," Takasago oyakata,
his shisho, added.
