Mr. Sugiyama is a highly respected retired journalist whose face can 
regularly be seen in the last of the press seats on the east side 
nearest to the hanamichi. Revoking his press card is truly awful -- and 
the first thing I have seen in this mess that is less than defensible.

I very much doubt whether Mark Buckton's  column in the Japan Times 
Online would entitle him to a press pass. When he and Barbara and 
others approached the Kyokai to get the online sumo fan magazine 
included in the press corps, the results were prdictable.

I do wonder, however, if Clyde Newton still gets press IDs for his Sumo 
World writers -- this was a special privilege originally granted to 
Andy Adams. This could be the reason why he still produces a ghost of a 
magazine that seems to be on sale only at the Kokugikan bookstall.
