Subject: [sumo] Training from yesterday
Asasekiryuu and Houmashou came to Tokitsukaze beya for degeiko and had
bouts with homeboys Tokitenkuu and Toyonoshima. Asasekiryuu used his
head a lot (physically..) and was 16-7. "I'm in good shape. I'm a
sekiwake now, so I's gots to win, and I will be aiming for 10 wins!",
he declared. Houmashou didn't do so well. He had a huge supporter on
his left elbow and his left ankle was heavily taped as well, and was
not doing well. He had only 11 bouts and his usual intensity was
missing, managing only two wins. "What should I do?? It's not as bad as
it looks", he said.
Kotooushuu is suffering from right shoulder pains. He injured it during
a bout against Hakuhou at the YDC soken on August 31st. "It feels like
I twisted it. When I raise it, it hurts. I couldn't even move until
yesterday", he grimaced. It won't stop him from entering Aki, but he
had only 15 bouts with Juryo rikishi at the heya. "It's getting better
every day, so I'll be OK', he said, but the delay of real keiko is
worrying.
And then:
Kotooushuu had 14 bouts today at home against Kotoshougiku and other
Sekitori. His shoulder injury was not noticeable at all and some
serious keiko was seen "My shoulder is much better", he observed. His
stablemate Kotomitsuki has joined him at the rank of Ozeki. He hasn't
been very successful lately, and till last basho he couldn't manage
double digit wins this year. "I've been losing easy matches early on,
but I will be extra careful about that this basho", he said.
Hakuhou went to Dewanoumi beya for degeiko this morning. He met up with
Futenou, Kasuganishiki, Tochinonada and "future yokozuna candidate"
Tochiozone and won 14 of 15 matches. 5 of those were against 03, where
Hakuhou totally dominated with sukuinages and yorikiris. "I attack
where I can attack. I defend where I can defend. I had good keiko!", he
said. Lately he has been busy doing yokozuna duties and "insufficient
keiko" was being pointed out but as the basho nears he is picking up
the pace, it appears.
