I see that they give the spelling "Kotooshu".  The kanji which means 
"big island", oshuu, is shortened to oshu.  So one could make the 
argument that "official" is not necessarily the most accurate in terms 
of pronunciation. That still leaves some room for criticism that they 
are "Anglicizing" rather than "romanizing". Then again there is the 
spelling "Kotooushuu" which has some justification too.  But I don't 
particularly like the other style which would give a spelling like 
"Kotoohshuu" or "Kotoohshuh".
