3 sumo wrestlers who beat grappler that died pull out of tournament

Three sumo wrestlers who allegedly assaulted junior wrestler Takashi Saito
-- who died during a subsequent training session -- will refrain from
participating in the November Grand Sumo Tournament, which will kick off on
Sunday.

The three wrestlers, who belong to the Tokitsukaze stable, filed reports of
absence to the Japan Sumo Association on Friday.

Stablemaster Tokitsukaze said the three wrestlers told him on Thursday that
they wanted to be absent from the upcoming tournament to be held in Kyushu.
"We are still under investigation and cannot concentrate on sumo," the three
were quoted as telling the stablemaster.

"The three were training well, and it's regrettable (that they cannot take
part in the tourney), but I decided to respect their will," Tokitsukaze
said.
