[sumo] Hawaii koen

Talked at length to Musashimaru today. He and Ross Mihara will be the
stadium announcers in Hawaii. He thinks the sales are going fairly well, but
the LA koen will depend on that, and on a few logistic determinations -
hotel, dohyo cost, etc., particularly the latter. I did tout the East Coast
for a tourney, but he (correctly) said that there is really no sumo there.
All the amasumo is on the West Coast. Of course, I let him know that we have
many, many sumo fans there, and that the fans in the U.S. tend to travel
distances to see their sport, and that the European fans might be amenable
to travel that doesn't take them across the world notwithstanding London
next year, AND that, after all, the 1985 koen in New York City was a big
success:-), but then, I am biased!

Hmmmm, maybe Jesse (Azumazeki Oyakata, formerly Takamiyama) can have some
influence on an East Coast koen if we have a Yanks/Boston package. His son
is, after all, the field security supervisor at Yankee Stadium!
