[sumo] Notes from Day 1 and just a small spoiler about the "grudge
match"

Baruto looking very mod with an orange tint on the top of his oicho.....
Tochiazuma breaking up a potential swinging match between a group of Western
men and a Japanese man who kept screaming and threatening the gaijin. This
happened on the boxes directly behind Meike and me. Tochiazuma was excellent
as he brought the antagonist's temper down with his even-toned low-
modulated voice. I think the Japanese guy was really stunned when he was
confronted by Tochiazuma. The former Ozeki must have asked the Japanese
party to leave, because they quietly packed up their food and souvenirs and
left their box seats.
At the end of the day, while Tochiazuma was one of the security men
"guarding" the dohyo, he was granting photos with many people who came down
to ask him. Finally, some the female security contingent stopped the throngs
of people approaching him.
As for Asashoryu - Toyonoshima, it was a non-event. The yokozuna swiftly
powered the smaller rikishi back wards, it looked like Toyonoshima's legs
just gave out, and then he was down. The yokozuna graciously assisted
Toyonoshima back to his feet.
Also, for those who asked, thank you, but I will be delayed in posting the
tsunauchi video. I forgot how much time the sumo takes out of my day between
morning practice and the day at the Kokugikan, then dinner, then off to
beddy-bye. I will try to finish it this week. I will not be doing daily
posts to my blog of the days' events. There are several people on the forum,
such as John Gunning, who offer wonderful photos and videos of the bouts. I
will, however, come back occasionally with asageiko videos, but that will
not be on a daily basis, either.
Regards.
