Thank you Mr. Akselsen for succinctly explaining exactly the nature of
the problem.

This is exactly the problem with posts about politics and/or religion
in special-interest groups.

We don't need some military officer telling us "how swimmingly" things
are going in Iraq, after tens of thousands of people have been killed
with no end in sight.  There are plenty of other forums for pro war
and anti war propaganda and a sumo discussion group ISN'T it.  Clearly
discussions of this type bring out the worst in everyone, including
whoever has decided that forging posts in other people's names lets
them off the hook for their bad behaviour.

As an American living overseas who travels to other countries on a
regular basis, I can only cringe at the loss of respect Americans are
now subjected to as the result of our government's continual
interference in the affairs of others.
