[sumo] FW: Tide Turns in Ramadi [off-topic]/MY RANT!

OK I think I've seen enough.  I've been with this list
for a decade.  Joined shortly after I left the United
States Navy.  This list has been my main connection to
Sumo since those days.  

For twenty years now I have been a fan due primarily
because of the Hawaii connection.  I cheered the rise
of Akebono and Musashimaru with glee.  I was saddened
when Konishiki fell from Ozeki.  I was amazed at the
ability and skill level of the Hanada brothers and
have been often shocked by the behavior of Asashoryu.

This weekend this list has gone to trash.  Maybe some
of you who are screaming about the war in Iraq etc
should remember a thing of six.

Thing one: we have many active duty US Military
members on this list.  

Thing two: this list has a clear international flavor.

Thing three: an entire family who were members of this
list died in the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

Thing four: the few days after that list it was made
quite clear that there are members of this list who
are enemies of the United States based purely on their
comments and one quite prominent member of this list
should probably never get withing arm's reach of me as
that individual has a right cross coming that hasn't
been afforded the chance to be paid yet.  

Thing five: I don't care what your opinion is of the
war on terror one way or the other.  I don't care what
your opinion of the war in Iraq is one way or the
other.  I do know that they are reality, they are
current and they aren't going away just because
someone wishes them to.  Views of the Bush
administration etc have no place on this list.  

Thing six: Wayne, God bless you and the people you are
serving with as well as any others who are serving
anywhere in the world for the cause of freedom.

Thing seven: I think I will be ignoring this list for
some time now if I don't just unsubscribe.  The venom
being tossed around is unseemly and is the worst I've
seen here since the outlandish comments made about the
Untied States on this list the week of 9/11/01.

Thing eight: I am a veteran.  I've been to war.  I
have been under gun point and I have killed for my
country.  I don't need someone from another era
telling me what to read or making silly comments about
"informed media."  I've seen from point blank direct
experience numerous times that "the mainstream media"
is all about dollars and has little interest in
keeping anyone actually informed.  Wayne informed us. 
That is all I need to know about Ramadi.

Thing nine: God bless the United States of America and
to Hell with anyone who thinks different.
