Everyone and his online sister is now reporting with great detail that 
Tochiazuma will announce his retirement tomorrow. Apparently, he had 
decided on this path since his first inspection right after he went 
kyujo last basho. All the doctors he had seen could not guarantee that 
he could safely continue with his career. "If he continues doing sumo, a 
relapse (of the hemorrhage) is possible. His blood vessel can suddenly 
become blocked and a paralyzing hemorrhage can ensue at any moment", 
said one of them. "You can retire whenever you wish.." said his father.
Asked by reporters if the rumors are true, all Tochiazuma said was 
"Anyway, the seventh, the seventh", and slipped into the heya through 
the back door.

After being admonished by the YDC and Kitanoumi rijicho for his weak 
soken performance , especially his pathetic bout against Asashouryuu, 
Hakuhou had this to say:
"He did a slight henka so I wasn't ready. Earlier, I saw him flexing his 
left elbow and he seemed in pain..", he explained, hinting he didn't go 
all out so as not to aggravate the Yokozuna's injury.
I guess the reporter edited out the "dog ate my homework" part.
