I'm sorry to hear this, but I'm glad he's decided to uphold the
responsibilities
of the rank, rather than (as some have suggested he could) hang on another
basho to merely collect another couple of month's salary.

Any word on whether or not his father will retire early to allow him to take
over the heya, or has he made other arrangements to stay in the Kyokai?
