I could not disagree more. I regard the members of this list as friends.
We aren't one-dimensional sumo fans. We are people who like sumo.
And hopefully each other as well. There is life beyond sumo for most
of us, and occasionally that makes it to the mailing list. All the better,
as far as I'm concerned.

I think I've been on this ML for about 12 years. I don't think I'd subscribe
very long to a moderated list that disallows fellowship beyond sumo. 
This is a sumo mailing list, yes. But sometimes, it's also a bit like a
"chat room". What's wrong with that? It seems to generally work OK.

Geez, some people even use the ML to (horror of horrors) sell stuff...
