Tokitairyuu- 24, 190/120 kilos. Won the Jonidan yusho in his second 
basho. Favorite techniques-migi-yotsu/yori. Entered sumo Haru 2006.
Last basho 6-1 at Sandanme 10, promoted to Makushita. He was in 
contention for the Sandanme yusho. "Till now I was pretty passive, but 
in order not to lose due to stress, I just attack from my head..", he 
said. His assertiveness is beginning to show. He was born at the foot of 
Bandaisan mountain. In middle school he was a basketball player, but 
"when I participated in the local sumo tournaments, I'd get prizes..", 
he explained. He started doing real sumo in Aizu agricultural and 
forestry school. and went on to Higashi Noudai University. He reached 
the top 16 in the All-Japan Championships in 2005. He entered sumo 
following another Fukushima boy who went with him through high school 
and University, Soutairyuu, who is already in Makushita. "There is 
someone I knew before in my heya, and that is reassuring.. He is a good 
rival and is like an older brother," he said. He is chasing after 
Soutairyuu who has been in Makushita for a while now.
The last Fukushima boy to make it to Juryo is Tamanoshima back in 1999. 
No one has become sekitori from his birthplace Inawashiromachi, which is 
part of Aizu district, postwar. "I'd like to establish myself in 
Makushita, and ease my way up slowly. OTOH, I'd like to meet my 
townfolk's expectations and make my parents happy quickly", he said. He 
will be racing his ani-deshi to Juryo.
This basho- Makushita 34, his rival Soutairyuu is at Makushita 19.
