Houmashou is injured. He injured his left elbow in keiko yesterday. In a
match against Toyonoshima, he aggravated an injury he suffered three
days ago. He was on the receiving end of a dashinage, stubbornly held
on, and heard a "baki baki" sound. He immediately stopped the keiko and
put cold water on the affected area. He has been taking an each way
10,000 yen taxi ride from his heya to Tokitsukaze-beya for keiko daily,
and a few days from shonichi, there is cause for concern, although the
actual severity is as yet unknown.

"I'm pretty sure I will face Asashouryuu on shonichi , so I'll get a
migi yotsu, then I'll kick away his legs. Before he gets his speed
going, I've got to somehow get him into my style". Big words from
Komusubi Tokitenkuu. It has been customary lately that the Yokozuna
faces the West Komusubi on day 1, since Nagoya 2005. His face to face
against Asa is 0-4, but he seems to be very confident this time around.
This kind of provocative talk aimed at the yokozuna is quite rare. Pride
is involved here. Tokitenkuu was Asa's senpai at their Judo dojyo in
Mongolia way back when. He also seems to be in great shape, as he went
14-4 in keiko yesterday against Asasekiryuu, Houmashou and others.
