Musashigawa-oyakata, former yokozuna Mienoumi, performed a kanreki
dohyo-iri on the 16th.
The kanreki dohyo-iri with a red tsuna (rope) celebrates the event of a
yokozuna completing the kanreki cycle of 60 years, a rare thing in the
past. Not all yokozuna did it though.

The oyakata turns 60 only in February next year, but the party
celebrating 25 years of Musashigawa-beya was apparently reason enough to
do it now.
The last kanreki dohyo-iri was by Kitanofuji in 2002.
This was the 8th in history, but the first held in a hotel, with about
1200 guests present.
The unryu-style dohyo-iri on a dohyo built on a stage had the former
ozeki Dejima and Miyabiyama as tachi-mochi and tsuyu-harai.
