He may well be following some instructions. But if he does have a 
stress fracture in his back, he should NOT be running around playing 
soccer. I have run many times with your average every-day back pain 
that eventually works itself out. If a stress fracture gets jarred 
the wrong way, it could become much more than a stress fracture and 
lead to an early retirement.
Right now I have a knee with a rough spot on some cartilage and 
cannot run, so I fully understand the thought process that Asa would 
want to work thru an injury rather than stop doing everything he 
loves. But sometimes you have to look further ahead.
