Many thanks for your very thorough reply. I stand quite corrected.

As is often the case, memory does *not* serve...

Either when Hakuho *did* henka, it stuck in my memory, or (very possibly) I
sometimes had him confused with Asasekiryu. Before Hakuho began bulking-up,
I occasionally mistook one for the other, particularly if I wasn't watching
closely. Hakuho stood out for me at the time by his Leo Gorcey pug nose,
and what looked for all the world like a pot belly on a little guy whose
chanko diet wasn't yet having quite the desired effect.

In the past year or so, the similarities have completely disappeared, and I
often find myself wondering why on earth I ever thought they looked
anything alike.
