I would venture to guess that that is the case, Doreen, as I also get MDN in
my mailbox each day. There is rarely a byline or source (AP, Kyodo) credited
to any of the online stories, either.

MDN hasn't existed in print for several years. What you are quoting must be
the online newspaper, which is rather different from mainstream journalism.
