On the pre-New Year 'This Year in Sumo' special, Ama was the guest
(along with Kitanofuji, Mainoumi, and Demon Kogure, along with a
couple other folks), and Demon asked Ama why he doesn't Henka, or
something along those lines, as he's a smaller guy, and it's really
not ALWAYS cowardly. Mainoumi chuckles and agrees, and Ama goes on
this shpiel about how he isn't intending to change his style of sumo
since he is more interested in giving the fans a good show of
hard-fought sumo, even if he can't prevail every time.
Or somesuch. This is all paraphrased (as I watched said show several
weeks back). But it certainly doesn't synch up with this being a
Clintonesque dodge of the question. Who knows why he moved as he did
save himself, and he said he was unhappy with it...
